This book is very inspiring and encouraging especially to those who feel unhappy, hopeless and empty inside. It contains proven steps to help you become happy and live a life full of passion and enjoyment. A good idea that you can ask yourself every day "Do I love myself?”, in this way, you can think better about yourself and what you need the most. This book helped me greatly and made me proud of myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but our disposition.

A Very Good Reason to Read It.

This author's style of writing gives the reader a feeling of intimacy with the characters, as if you are part of their circle of acquaintances. Frequently the door is opened to the seamier side of life and the reader is subjected to the perspectives of what a medical professional and police officer sometimes have to face. It isn't pretty. Although there is violence, those parts of the narration are presented with such care as if to protect the reader from the harsher realities of life. I must admit I appreciated that, since I have imagination enough without needing the added extra of minute detail to colour my dreams of gore. Even though the subject of this book is in not pleasant, I found it less full-on than the other books this author has written. I don't quite know how I feel about that. Probably relieved, but still... I can't quite say something was missing, because I don't think it was. Just that the book was more tame. Thinking about that, I think what it is is that the book was realistic, as in the situations, as they are written in this book, are much more likely to occur than the circumstances in the other books by this author. When you think of it like that, then chills run down your spine. This could happen to any one of us.

Another great mystery from Cari Hunter

I waited 2 days after I bought this book to start reading because I knew I would sit down and not stop until I had finished the entire thing. It was well worth the wait. Outstanding character development. I am so looking forward to seeing where these characters go in upcoming stories. Believable well paced mystery. This book is a keeper. Buy it. Read it. Count the days until next installment.

"Very good craft. Great story. I would like to have seen more kickass in the heroine. A little to indecisive for my taste. But a great story idea that really grabs you about midway through.
I’d like to have seen the heroine force the issue a little more. The plot components are all there and in order. But the heroine could have made that flow a little faster, a little more captivating by rebelling every once in a while.
Setting is Excellent.
The reveal was a little slow on a few issues and, I believe, incomplete on others. The heroines’ father. How that impacted her decision making could have been developed a little more. And there were two specific times I wanted to grab the H and yell at her. Go do this now. You not doing this particular thing is out of character for you. The most important of the two was when they finally linked one person to the killings (Farley I believe) and everyone else gave up on the second victim (Rachel). And our H went home wounded and tired, all teary eyed, but she had a hunch or maybe a hope. She shouldn’t have given up. She should of fought Meg to the point of anger and continued the search on her own. In the dark. In the rain. Through the pain. That’s what makes our heroes heroic.
Great stuff. Nice flow. Very clean. Well edited. Only mention here would be using a lot of brand names. Especially products that a reader outside the UK may never have heard of before.
Great one. I will be finding another title by this author for personal reading."

A fabulous mystery, well grounded in setting, creepy and steadily paced, reminiscent of the television show Broadchurch.

Brilliant. This started out looking like another trudge through a clich� formula, then suddenly spun out into a hair-raising hunt. I'd go on about how good it is but I don't want to give away any surprises. A real surprise.

An excellent start into a new series oozing with brithisness and characters who run deep.

Perfect for all sorts of newbies

I approached this book as one kind of newbie -- a web designer/programmer who is proficient at javascript and other scripting languages, but with little experience in After Effects. So, while I was comfortable with the scripting elements of the book, I appreciated the fact that various users of After Effects will arrive from any number of different backgrounds, and the effort taken to not scare off visual designers with lots of unfamiliar math and programming language were not a problem for me. Expressions is a clever pun of Adobe's in a way, using a word that we might take to mean "artistic expression" to fuel an approach to entering mathematical expressions, for underlying these dazzling effects is math. For those of us who are programmers, of course, the ability that Expressions gives to get to the actual math and javascript is a plus that increases our comfort level with our goals for the finished product.

This book does a good job of easing the burden of the math/programming for those who aren't at their most comfortable with these things, and does an equally good job of taking someone like myself, who is likely to be involved more in the programming side of a project while working with a designer, to become familiar with the parameters used by Expressions. This acknowledges, in my mind, that there are various of us in the food chain of producing content that may have to learn to touch a wide array of different programs (for instance, I had rarely used Adobe Premiere before last year, and it was one of my most-used programs in 2008 because of web projects that were heavy on video). That's why I think it is important for a book of this kind to be able to welcome various kinds of newbies... folks who may all be newbies in different ways.

I had no problem, by the way, using the sample files on a PC, so perhaps this problem was fixed since the time another reviewer reported problems.

Within just a few minutes, I was able to alter Expressions commands in After Effects, and, thanks to this book, had a sense of how the parameters I was altering were creating the changed results.

The format of this book was very easy to follow, and the illustrations were of superb quality. In a few cases, it made all the difference to know what I was looking for in the visual sense, by seeing the high-quality color rendering that the book provided.

This book really solves a problem for me, that I increasingly face in my responsibilities with content production problems, which is the need to get up to speed quickly and specifically on an application (or, in this case, a portion of an application) utilized in a project in which I work with others. I now have a much greater level of confidence in being able to dig in to After Effects, and use the power Expressions as an aid to creating the desired results.

FINALLY! A book on After Effects expressions that speaks to EVERYONE! I myself am a published After Effects author and lecturer, but I have a dirty little secret: I suck at expressions. Badly. I fear them. I loathe them. And in all of the great forums, books, and training I've encountered, I've never found anyone able to speak at my level without being condescending, or assuming too much.

Marcus Geduld is totally the right guy for the job, as anyone familiar with the After Effects community can tell you. He's just amazing. His ability to make difficult concepts easy to grasp is second to none, in my opinion. I saw him speak at an After Effects certification seminar at NAB in Vegas a few years ago, and he spoke about AE preferences for an hour and I was on the edge of my seat like I was watching an episode of Lost or something!

I finally "get" expressions now. It will be hours of practice before I feel really comfortable using them. But the nightmares about a huge "if/then" statement coming in the night and eating me have finally stopped.

P.S. Did I mention that this book is hilarious? Well, it is. If you were like me and wondering if it would be a boring read, then you don't know Marcus Geduld! I think I had a laugh and an "a ha" moment on every page...

Best expression handbook I have seen!

First of all, this is not a book to teach you how to use AE. Still, the author does a good job at telling you how to use AE if you are still learning it. I have been afraid of expression for a while now, but knew deep down inside that some of the animations I wanted to do, couldn't be done without expressions. This book is easy to pick up and use. I haven't gone through the whole book and can easily just jump to a section I need to use and BAM!!! I have exactly what I was looking for. Project files are located on his website which kinda sucks, I was hoping for a disk to come with the book, but I can't complain too much. (Especially since I don't need those files anyway. I follow along with the book and type it all out from the get go so I can learn it anyway.

For those AE motion designers who have not yet allowed expressions to help them out, and for those who need an extra tool to help them finish that project, I recommend this book. A must have!

About the Author
The late John Campbell was an authority on naval weaponry and this book is the culmination of a lifetime's research. He was a regular contributor to the Warship journal and is the author of Jutland: An Analysis of the Fighting as well as works on Queen Elizabeth class battleships, First World War battlecruisers and he was a major contributor to the Conway's All The World's Fighting Ships series.

Good information - Very poorly printed

As an original copy is seldom available, this bad reprint provides the best source for this data in one book. WARNING - have your reading glasses ready - this edition is a poorly scanned copy of the original - most type is readable, but blurry. Pictures have too much contrast and lack detail. Line diagrams have fine lines and small type faded away.
Even with these faults, there is still a wealth of data to make this a keeper

THE World War II Naval Weapon Reference

Without a doubt, this is one of the finest reference works for the purist that I have ever purchased. This is a highly technical book, and, as such, is not for everyone. If you ever wanted to know whether a naval gun was built-up, autofretted or loose-linered, then this is the book you want to purchase. If you have no clue as to what those terms mean and are looking for a more traditional work on the Second World War, then quickly move on to the next book on your shopping list; as this one is not for you.

This latest edition has apparently not been updated to correct mistakes and ommissions found in the original 1985 publication and is simply a reprint of the original work. For example, the data on Soviet/Russian weapons found in this book is quite limited. Much more data, both in terms of volume and in accuracy, has come to light on those weapons since the end of the Cold War, but none of it has found its way into this newest edition.

However, I would consider this to be a relatively minor failing, as the amount and quality of the data on nearly every other nation's weapons is simply overwhelming in its scope and in its detail.

The 2002 edition has some quality issues, and appears to have been simply digitally copied from an original rather than being a new press run. As a result, the pictures appear "grainier" than in the original 1985 printing.

All in all, I highly recommended this book.

Good but dated.

Its a very good -but dated- reference book to have at your disposal. Unfortunately if I ever find any discrepancy with Cambell's book and the "Navweapons. Com" internet site, I always defer to the latter.

Now if the 'NAVWEAPONS' people every got around to turning their database into book format, I would be `all over that'.

Wonderful guide!

This guide is pretty good, it contains several themes in one book, a friend of the college gave me this guide because i'm very interested in these themes; The first talks about the circuits engineering, is a basic but well complete guide, making it foolproof for beginners of matter, it contains numerous notes and tips in addition to tons of concepts and definitions very well written ; the second guide, deals with techniques of piracy and how to avoid them , takes us into new concept of hacking , types of hacking and all the definition of the concept, also contains useful information on how to protect our accounts so that we are not victims of hacking . And the last topic discusses the methods of cryptography , types and definitions; and generally talks about the coding and decoding using simple mathematical artifice. Overall it is a wonderful guide and I bet It will be very useful.

These themes are simply interesting

My brother decided to begin the studies of his new degree, and in this period he'll see a lot of themes and things, so my mother gave him this pack because he will need it soon. I had the chance to read a bit of it before he begins his lessons. The guide contains 3 very hot and interesting themes as they are Circuit Engineering, Hacking tips and Cryptography theory, all the themes are great for novices and begginers because they explain everything from the scratch, they define types and techniques of every theme, every guide comes with some really useful tips to understand everything better and faster all the lessons, Also the price of the pack is very cheap, which makes this pack even better.

Excellent combination of themes in this book. It's got three interesting issues that are essential for those who want to learn the main topics of computer programming. I like this book because It is basic and so good for beginners. It is not difficult because It is explained step by step in a way that make you understand easily and help you to have a very good start in the programming world. The topic that I like the most was the hacking, because reading It I learned about importance of the security on internet, with all the codes and keys that make It sure, and all that people can do with that information.
