Technically Lacking

The book doesn't deliver on presenting a computer application system for evaluating performance. It takes the CCRC's accredition questions and just expands on them. From the information that was presented I not sure if the authors know what an application system is. In any event the book lacks any hard technical information, or performance standards, that can be used for evaluating and designing a project. It's presentation is more like a general business plan from a recent MBA graduate.

EXCELLENT Read on the Brain & Performance

In today's world of gurus and self-proclaimed experts, there's no shortage of books that promise to improve athletic and business performance. Most of these books ignore one of the most powerful influences: the brain. The Brain Always Wins doesn't promise anything, but I will tell you that it is (1) an entertaining read, (2) a hands-on guide, and (3) applicable to sports, business, and life. If you want to learn more about the brain, how it impacts us, and how to improve, then this is a must-read. I cannot recommend it enough. Though I am a psychologist, I learned so much from this book. Though it is grounded in solid science, I loved how easy it was to read.

your own personal walking tours of the city

We just returned from Barcelona and used this wonderful guide to explore the city. The book begins with about 20 pages of general introduction to Barcelona and then gives 5 walks, separated by area: El Barri Gottic, Sant Pere and La Ribera, El Raval, Gracia and L'Eixample. Each walk takes about 3 to 4 hours (longer if you stop at recommended restaurants and attractions), and are as good as having a private walking tour. There are lots of interesting little stories about the city, the buildings and the people. We've used many of the books in this series and found BarcelonaWalks not quite as intimate and charming as others, but still very good. Also the book is getting older now so it is less reliable when it comes to restaurants and other venues, but we still enjoyed these walks very much. Each section contains a map (which does not name all the streets, which can be problematic) and a few balck-and-white photographs.

As much as I have enjoyed the other books on Barcelona that I have read, nothing has brought this spectacular city to life in quite the same way as Barcelonawalks. I went on the walks with a native who knows the city so well she can get navigate the labyrinth of the Barri Gotic with her eyes closed. The book was a revelation even to her. George Semler, the author, brings considerable reserves of insight, style and wit to the proceedings. As a book, it's a wonderful confection. As a guidebook (a recipe I don't ordinarily care for since they often do to their subject what the Kraft company does to cheese), it is more like private tour with someone who knows the broad arch of the city's rich history, the character of it's people, as well as a baroque quantity of entertaining minutia. Semler's restaurant recommendations alone might be worth the price of admission, as you are likely to find yourself the only tourist in various characteristic and popular neighborhood eateries.

From the medieval splendor of the Gothic Quarter through the 19th neighborhood of Gracia to the wildly idiosyncratic buildings of the Catalan Renaissance, each block is revealed not only as a sequence of architectural structures but as the place where the great and the ordinary people of Barcelona fought, dreamed and struggled. I walked every one of its routes with pleasure and a great sense of history. Marvellous!

About the Author
Karl Marks is a regular performer in the West Coast comedy circuit, headlining at clubs such as the Improv, Friars Club, and Icehouse. Using the stage as his soapbox, he has successfully offended thousands of hateful women to the raucous applause of drunken men. His material spawns from both time spent at the U. of Southern California, where he double majored in public intoxication and freshman sorority girls, and his many years navigating the thankless, Godforsaken prostitution ring better know as the Los Angeles dating scene. His mother and three sisters should be proud.

As an attorney, Dan Indante has spent the last ten years representing talentless writers and entertainers whom he secretly despises. As a man, he has spent the last 34 years dating heartless, soulless women whom he much more openly despises. He is co-author of The Complete A**hole's Guide to Handling Chicks. I thought this book would be funnier but its pretty dumb I think they were serious about most of the stuff in here... not even comparable to maddox and tucker max's book.

Don't Believe the Hype

I bought this book because of the rave reviews and this book was total crap. It wasn't very funny or vaguely interesting. At least you can now use the "look inside" feature and check some of it out for yourself. If you find this type of material funny, it might be for you. I would not recommend it. The material lends itself to be very funny if done right, but these guys just don't provide the laughs with this one.

Not What You'd Expect

Here's the thing. Im' a 28-year-old female who appreciates dirty filthy humor. I was even a huge laughing-so-hard-I'm-crying fan of the Tucker Max autobio. This book is nothing like that. It's just poorly written and all over the place in terms of topics. So much so that I can't even finish the prologue let alone the first chapter!

If you like the raunchy, unbelievable stories, stick to Tucker, Chelsea Handler, and the people who are tried and true in this department.
